The Maine Boathouse a historic private residence, situated just minutes from Portland that has recently opened for wedding and special events. It’s uniquely Maine style and unmarred harbor views make it a picturesque location and relaxing escape for intimate occasions and special events.
South Freeport, ME—Built in 1813, the historic boathouse is one of the earliest structures remaining in South Freeport. The boathouse, cottages, and small pier are the image that most people have when they think of “Down East” or “Maine”. The quintessential shingles and simplistic designs are what New England architecture is known for. Events hosted at the boathouse will not only enjoy photographs that truly depict the romance of this region of Maine, but also breathtaking views of the river and harbor.
“We are delighted to open this Boathouse for weddings and special events. It is a historical landmark in South Freeport, and we believe it will enable people to have the Maine Wedding of their dreams without the expense or travel to Bar Harbor and Rockport,” says owner. “The space itself is very accommodating, but we believe once people see our views they won’t want to be anywhere else.
For those traveling, the facility offers the choice of two cottages where guests can stay over and enjoy an event the next day. Each cottage offers classic interiors and the same open view of the river and harbor. The Boathouse can accommodate up to 60 guests and is available for weddings May-June and September-October.
