Single Moms Deserve a Holiday, say the people behind Single Moms Sharing. They want to declare February 28th “Single Moms Day”.
With the upcoming “Single Parents Holiday” on March 21s Single Moms Sharing wanted to highlight the distinct differences that single mothers face and why they deserve more than just “Mother’s Day”. The website has been a joyful resource for single mothers who are doing their best to juggle the demands of work and children. The blog is run by single mothers who want to not only provide their wisdom gained from life experience but also seek it out from others.
“As single moms we face many challenges,” says spokesperson Muriam. “We don’t have quite as many options as other types of mothers, when it comes to time off, work hours, or budgets. We are doing the job of two parents by ourselves, and it’s hard. The self-doubt, the lack of sleep, the worry is all double and you have fewer outlets for help. We want to celebrate the accomplishments of single mothers and are petitioning for our own holiday.”
Their website’s motto is: Let’s build a village by helping other single moms. That’s the goal, single moms sharing their troubles, their fears, their worries, but more than that they’re sharing their hopes, their dreams, and their accomplishments. The website tackles issues like: dating, sex as a single mom, budgets, and even meditation. The website even has a list of resources to help moms who are struggling.
